The 320 new books I ordered for the library are here! Mrs. Schoon and I are working like crazy to get them ready. There are a lot of things to do before they can be checked out. All of those steps are called "processing." I make sure all the books are there and in good condition when they arrive. We upload the records to the catalog so you can look them up. We attach the barcodes, spine labels, and pockets. We laminate covers to keep them from falling apart and to keep the books protected.
When the books are ready, it is time for our Preview Week. All the books will be displayed in the library. Teachers will have a special event with snacks and a drawing. I leave notes on the books so teachers are alerted to books that fit their curriculum needs. Students will be able to view the display and those who have scheduled classes will get to do a circle pass with the new books, too. It's a great time to excited about reading!
